During the official launch of the Education Trust Fund in Ibadan the capital of Oyo State, the two best student in the just concluded West African Secondary School Examination (WASCE) in the state were awarded full scholarship into the states newly established Technical University.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi made this announcement to the two best graduating students of the state Miss Irabor Isabelle Gelegu and Master Adekunle Oluwatoni Adedigba of Oritamefa Baptist Model School Ibadan. Both students had A1 in all subjects which to all is a feat that could only be achieved by students who aside from being taught also tries to improve themselves.
The two students has been given free admission which comes with full scholarship which will be a good starter for the launch of the ETF. According to the governor, the states ETF which is worth #50 billion would go a long way in restoring the education legacy of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, stating that the importance of education to the growth of the State and Nigeria alike cannot be overemphasized as it was replacing natural resources that used to portend wealth for nations.
The governor however appeals to citizens of Oyo State to help make this a reality and restore the pride of the State as the intellectual capital of the nation.
